Talking About Diagnostic Tests For Medical Care

Hello, my name is Gregory. When I was a young lad, I had to enter the health care world in an unexpected way. I developed a serious disease out of the blue that took doctors by surprise. I went through so many different testing procedures before my doctors could diagnose the rare disease. Everyone around me reeled as they tried to understand the purpose and process of the diagnostic tests. I hope to help others understand these important tests better through this website. Please come by often to learn all you need to know about medical diagnostics and working closely with health care professionals.

3 Essential Oils That Will Help Alleviate Allergy Symptoms

Nanja Bongers

Do you still suffer from allergy symptoms even though you are following your doctor's orders in terms of medications and preventative care? Perhaps it is time to bring your treatment to the next level by incorporating some alternative therapies, such as essential oils. These essential oils are unlikely to magically cure your allergies, but they can help get rid of some of those lingering symptoms.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint oil is wonderful for clearing your airways, which is perfect when your allergies leave you feeling a bit stuffy or congested. It can also soothe throat irritation and ease a cough. It may also have an antihistamine effect, which could cause your body to be less reactive when you do come into contact with allergens.

Try adding a few drops of peppermint essential oil to a pan of hot water, and breathing in the steam. You could also dip a wash cloth in a mixture of peppermint oil and warm water, and then hold the cloth over your face. Sipping a preparation of peppermint oil and water is another alternative, providing you purchase an essential oil that is marked as food-grade.

Eucalyptus

Many of the congestion-relief rubs sold in pharmacies are eucalyptus-based. Why not go right to the source and use the essential oil rather than a sticky, gooey cream? Eucalyptus oil can make it easier for you to breathe deeply when your allergies are acting up and you're congested. Like peppermint oil, it can soothe nasal and throat irritation, too.

The easiest way to take advantage of eucalyptus oil is to place a few drops right on the base of your neck where it meets your chest. This way, you will inhale the vapors. You can also add 10–15 drops to a water vaporizer to create a soothing steam-room treatment.

Lemon Oil

Lemon oil does not have the same cooling, soothing properties as peppermint and eucalyptus oil, but it is very beneficial to allergy sufferers because it helps alleviate inflammation. Thus, it's a good choice if your allergies leave you with puffy eyes or a swollen nose.

Try mixing a drop of lemon oil with a few drops of olive oil, and massaging this mixture onto your irritated nose. You can also prepare a steam bowl by adding a few drops to a bowl of hot water. Sit over the bowl, and let the steam come up and bathe your eyes and face, sucking the inflammation out of them.

Be sure to ask a physician at an allergy clinic like Allergy Asthma & Immunology Associates before incorporating these essential oils into your allergy treatment routine. Though they are generally safe, you want to be sure they won't interact negatively with any medications you are taking.
